As of November 5, 2009, these rules have been superseded by the rules found in this thread. - Nichts
These rules are valid for every post in this forum without any exception. Please check your inbox for Private Messages (PM) daily because staff members of www.travian.us usually communicate with you via PM. §1 By using the forum I accept its rules The staff members of www.travian.us administer and moderate the forum. The forum is open to every player for free. By registering every user agrees to these terms and is obliged to follow them. §1a The staff members are allowed to change the rules anytime The staff members of www.travian.us are allowed to change the rules anytime without notice and/or special advertising. Any user who does not agree with the changes may choose to leave the forum at anytime. §2 The moderators keep the forum clean and peaceful First of all the moderators are responsible for keeping the forum rules and ensuring polite discussions. Users who don't heed the rules will be warned, banned and/or deleted (§2a). Moderators and Admins are not obligated to answer questions, this is done voluntarily. §2a Users who violate the rules will be asked to heed the rules and if they violate the rules again, they will be admonished. Each admonishment involves a ban. Moderators and administrators may permanently ban user accounts, if the moderator or administrator in question deems this necessary. Furthermore in such cases an in game penalty can be imposed. §2b Creating multiple accounts on these boards is illegal and will result in deletion of the multi as well as possible infraction on the original account depending on rule violations committed by the multi. §3 Keeping of the netiquette The forum is used by the players for public interchange and helping each other and all users should feel welcome here. Therefore polite and respectful behavior is required (netiquette). Flames and insults are not tolerated and will be punished (§2a). Also excessive usage of colors, capitalization and spaces between words are not tolerated. NOTE: The use of white text, except in the case of using periods to meet the minimum character requirement, will not be tolerated. §3a Denouncing other players is illicit The same applies for sedition against alliances or players. So called "howling topics" are tolerated as long as the writer heeds the forum rules, §3a in particular. §3b In-game player and village names In-game player and village names may be posted on the forums, however they must not: be used to unfairly target players, be used in a derogatory manner, or be used to impersonate another player. The forum staff has the final say in what names are and are not allowed to be posted on the forums. §3c Battle reports Battle reports may be posted on the forums, however they must not contain the in-game names of affected players or their villages. §3d Creating accounts to impersonate players in-game is illicit Users that create accounts for the purpose of impersonating another player in-game will be banned from the forums and in-game action may be taken by the administrator. §4 Advertisements, spam, pornography, etc. are strictly forbidden Exaggerated or commercial advertisements, spam, pornography, cheats, warez, violent, disgusting, graphic or adult pictures, serious insults, inflammatory against persons or companies, radical political or inhuman posts or any other things or statements which are illegal by law of the Federal Republic of Germany are not tolerated and will be punished with deletion of the account or warning the offending user (§2a). The staff members of www.travian.us reserve the right to pursue further legal steps (report) and are the final arbiters of acceptable content. §4a The same goes for external links who have such (§4) content. Mislabeling links to inappropriate sites or so-called "browser-crashers" is worthy of an automatic ban. §4b Game referral links are allowed in signatures, if they are marked as such in a sufficient way, only. Though the user may be punished (§2a) if he doesn't heed moderators' orders. §5 Avatars and signatures The moderators are free to decide if the size and content of an avatar or a signature disturbs the clarity and usability of the forum or offends the forum rules (especially §6). They will inform the user of the reasons and request the user change it immediately. If the user doesn't follow the request, the administrator will change or delete the avatar/signature and the user will be warned if needed (§2a). Each member is allowed to have one (1) linked signature image. This signature image may be no larger than 500x120 pixels in size (500 length, and 120 height). If a member chooses to have a signature image, they may have a maximum of 2 additional lines of text in their signature. Signature images found to be too large, distracting, or inappropriate may be removed without notice. Members with signature images found to contain inappropriate material (bad language, extreme violence, etc.) will be banned for no less than 1 week. Members with signature images found to contain pornographic images may be permanently banned. §6 Deputies are not tolerated Only the moderators are responsible for the order of the forum. If you dislike something or see something which violates the rules, please report it. "Deputies" who are doing nothing but showing the rules or making comments like "close please", are not tolerated. Only the thread starter may ask for closing, editing, deleting, or moving the thread. Being a deputy only applies to publicly threatening or requesting bans, deletion, or any other act of moderating. Such requests are fine if they are done in private in a message to a moderator. §7 Threads should be posted in the correct forum Before you post a thread, please have a look if you have chosen the right forum. Otherwise the thread will be moved or closed. §7a Moving topics The moderators are free to move a thread into another forum without leaving a shadow topic or notice in the old forum. §7b Cross postings Posting a topic in several forums ("cross posting") is not allowed, except for announcements by staff members of www.travian.us. Cross posts will be deleted and the user be warned if needed (§2a). §8 Editing posts The users are obliged to edit their postings to avoid double postings. §9 Use the Search There is a search-function at this forum. Use it before you post a new question/idea/announcement/etc. If a thread with your topic already exists, post there and do not open a new one. §9a Posting topics with same content It is prohibited to open a new thread with the same topic (except when permitted by a moderator), when a moderator has closed the old one. Violations will be punished with warnings if needed (§2a). §10 The content of private messages doesn't belong into the forum The content of Private Messages (PMs), In Game Messages (IGMs) and other private conversations (ICQ, AIM,...) are not allowed to be posted in the forum without the permission of the author(s). The copyright law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies to the whole forum. §11 English is the only language allowed All members of the www.travian.us forums are expected to be able to read and write in English. All posts must be written in English so that they may be understood by all forum members, including the forum staff, who is responsible for monitoring the content of the forum. The forum staff may edit or delete posts in other languages and warn or punish players who do not follow this rule (§2a). §11b Inappropriate language is not allowed Intentionally misspelling words to evade the language filter is not allowed. Users who attempt to do so will be treated as if the actual word had been used without the language filter. §12 Use of the reputation system The reputation system is to be used fairly and honestly. Purposely boosting or dropping someone's reputation significantly is against the rules. This includes organizing such actions by multiple people, either to raise one's own reputation or to lower someone else's out of spite, anger, as an act of revenge, etc. Posts asking for reputation points are also not allowed and are subject to deletion. Warnings, bans and loss of reputation may be issued to users who do not heed a moderator's requests to cease posting for rep points. §13 The www.travian.us forum staff reserve the right to delete individual messages, posts and threads without stating reasons or giving notice. §14 Forum bans and in game bans are not to be discussed on the open forum. Any questions or comments related to bans must be privately discussed with a member of the forum staff or multihunting team.
