Default Party during an attack

Does throwing a party while you are being attacked increase your village defense?

It does if you are being chiefed. I don't think it does anything for normal attacks or raids.

This is correct. Note that it does not increase the defense in the battle with the chief, it just makes the chief deduct less loyalty.

I am trying to remember how this one works.

For a village without a party at 100% loyalty, it takes 5-6 chiefs to reduce the loyalty to zero.

For a village with 100% loyalty and a small party it takes 6-7 trips.

For a village with a large party going it takes around 8 chief trips.

Is that right?

Sometimes. Each tribe takes off a different amount of loyalty when attempting to chief. That amount increases by 5% if the attacking village throws a large party and decreases by 5% if the defending village throws a large party. This number is then modified based on the relative total populations of the two players (if you are chiefing a smaller player, you reduce loyalty by a smaller amount).

In any case, the amount you reduce it by is a variable amount within a range, so you can never be sure how many chiefs you need. When I complete a chiefing in 1 second I always risk wasting a chief or two.

Note, only large parties affect this. Small parties do nothing.

Could you clarify that last sentence?
When you say "waste" a chief or 2... do you mean sending a chief or 2 you didn't need to send? Or do th extra chiefs get killed/used for some reason?

Both. Say I calculate that Somewhere between 6 and 8 chiefs will be enough to take the village. Lets say I am going to play it safe and send 8, all of which land at the same second after the clearing wave and cats to destroy the residence. If chief number 6 takes the village, then chief number 6's escort will stay there as defenders. Chief number 7 and his escorts will fight them. If they lose, then the chief dies. If they win, then the chief will chief the village from me to me. Basically he will just disappear without changing anything. The same then happens with chief 8.
