And yet, the Catholic church embraces scientific studies in all ways. Medical, astronomical, ect. hmm, ok.
Retired as of 10/13/14 after 7 and a half years of playing. Good luck to those who continue to play.

Except when it comes to whether or not contraceptives count as abortifacients. Science says no, the Vatican says yes.

    Just as one example.

Actually the catholic church (the one I grew up in) is one of the most hypocritical when it comes to basic christianity. Love they neighbor as thyself is the fundamental teaching of jesus. And yet, the catholics in most countries are behind many of the right wing, capitalist policies that encourage the separation of rich and poor, black and white. If the catholics were true christians, there would be no gold plated fancy gear, and the vatican would be advocating for socialism all over the world. The current pope wouldn't be getting lectured by US catholic commentators about "what he really meant" and how capitalism isn't really so bad (even if the pope says it is).

I do not recall any "embracing" other than what the new Pope is doing. He, for a change, seems to be accepting the truth.
I am not an atheist. I am just against people who blindly follow religion, no matter what religion it is.

I like Pope Francis, I was young during Pope John Paul II, but he did good things as well. Both embraced giving to the poor, and advancing scientific study (Pope Francis more so). The Catholic Church is embracing more science every day, as both religion and science can and should go hand in hand.

Like sweeping pedophilia under the rug and moving priests to new areas, on unsuspecting children? Yeah, lots of good work for those thousands of children that got raped...

Oh, so the church is only defined by the current pope. everything that went before or might come in the future is irrelevant? The current pope is a big step up (and having trouble getting things done as well remember - the CHURCH is bigger than the pope), but the previous ones were all infallible too.

I won't deny there wasn't a problem, and I really hope there isn't a problem anymore, but the pope over sees thousands of priests, and there are hierarchiesand can't deal with everything.....

It is the small, still voice that says: we are one. No matter the blood. No matter the skin. No matter the world. No matter the star. We are one. No matter the pain. No matter the darkness. No matter the loss. No matter the fear. We are one. Here, gathered together in common cause, we agree to recognise this singular truth and this singular rule: that we must be kind to one another. Just that the memes of Pope Benedict XVI are old, like he is.

Sorry I am a Hindu and have never read the Bible, but killing non-virgins, people working on Sabbath, disobedient children...? Is that all really written in there?

In certain parts of the Old Testament. So, it's a slightly more valid criticism of Judaism, but still applies to Christianity.

Indeed, but you'll be relieved to know that there is only one major religion left with followers that still practice the punishments.

His last name should have given it away! Hopefully it shows how people lie to get attention, and all that heaven bull **** is fake. Of course, the dad never made a statement, cause he's probably expected to donate all the profits to a Christian charity.

Because if you release your fake news story the day before April Fool's day people are more likely to believe it.
