RULES FOR #TRAVIAN.US

Users of the Travian.us IRC channel are expected to be courteous and respectful at all times. These rules are a guideline to how such behavior might be achieved.

§1 Forbidden Practices
Whilst using the Travian.us IRC channel the following practices will not be permitted under any circumstances.

Using any language other than English
Any reference to Nazis/Hitler, or Nazi Activity/Regime
Excessive Trolling
Excessive Baiting of other members
Excessive Roleplaying if it disrupts the flow of conversation
Flooding (Typing numerous lines of text with very few words/letters in them)
Spamming (Including Smiley Spam)
Hacking accounts
Impersonating Travian staff (IRC or in game)
Using Inappropriate Language (including acronyms of such)
Evading the Language Filter
Evading Bans
Discussing Specific bans of any sort, whether they be Forum, IRC or on a Travian Server
Discussing the specific actions of any IRC Staff publicly. See Sec 4 below regarding disagreements on whether a rule has been violated.
Any other actions deemed inappropriate by IRC Staff not specifically enumerated herein
Posting an improper/illegal link (See rule §2 below)

§2 Use of external links
Linking to external sites from the #travian.us channel is governed by the following rules

All links must be suitable for a PG audience
Links must not breach any rules outlined in §1
Links to any page on a site containing explicit material are also banned, even if the page linked too does not breach rules. Examples include, but are not limited to, pornographic sites and sites containing excessive explicit language
It is the user’s responsibility to verify that the page being linked to is appropriate for the channel. If you are not sure about the appropriateness you should ask any member of the IRC staff to review it before you post it

§3 Use of usernames
Whilst in #travian.us users may choose their own unique username to make them identifiable. These usernames are governed as followed

Usernames must not include any explicit language or otherwise inappropriate content
It is the user’s responsibility to register the name if they wish to protect it. The IRC staff will be unable to help in cases where an unregistered username is being used by another user
Users may not register any usernames that are assigned automatically by the server (e.g. T_Guest1). Any such registrations may be removed by the staff

§4 Rules regarding private channels
Whilst using IRC users have the opportunity to create their own private channels. These are governed by the IRCop team and not the local IRC team for #travian.us However whilst in possession of a private channel users must follow the following regulations

Advertising private channels within #travian.us is expressly forbidden. Only official Travian channels may be mentioned by name
Problems caused in private channels should not be brought into the #travian.us channel. Travian IRC staff cannot help resolve these problems and nor can they unban you from a private channel. Any complaints should be made to the IRC team

§5 Punishments
If a user breaches any of the above guidelines they may be subject to punishments at the discretion of the IRC staff as follows

Punishments can include, but are not limited to, channel mutes, kicks, bans and server wide bans. These punishments will be enacted by different staff
All punishments are entirely at the discretion of the IRC staff, each case will be judged individually on its severity
Any punishments received may not be discussed on the public channel
If you believe a punishment was made in error you should discuss it with the member of staff responsible. Any further complaints should be addressed to the administration team either by query or memo to Fighter1405

§6 Other

IRC is a privilege, not a right, and as such in order to use it, you must be willing to abide by the rules.
These rules are meant to make the #travian.us channel a family friendly environment. There are no “loopholes” in these rules. IRC Staff has the right to exercise judgment calls regarding any actions/statements and to take action if they feel a person is violating the rules in any manner, or is acting against the spirit of the rules. Remember that the servers are considered private property and are owned by TravianGames. While the IRC Staff will act as impartially as possible, it is ultimately the right of TravianGames and IRC staff to determine who may access the IRC facilities provided.
